The Crossing Method
Superyacht crew on deck with a superyacht anchored behind them

The Founding Cohort · 12 weeks · Starts 30th September

You don’t need to know when you’re leaving yachting. But you can start getting intentional about what comes next.

The Crossing Method is for women who want to start building what comes next while they’re still earning, travelling and enjoying life at sea.

Whether you’re thinking about leaving in six months or four years, we’ll help you get clear on the life you want beyond the boat and what your career, business, money, tax and professional plans need to look like to support it.

You don’t need a perfectly mapped-out next move. You can come with ten ideas or none.

The point is to stop leaving your future until “one more season.”

We want you to thrive ashore, the same way you thrived at sea.

Explore the crossing

A tax-free salary isn’t a financial plan.

You can run a charter for the world’s wealthiest people. Lead a team of 6 through a 12-hour turnaround. Anticipate what a guest needs before they’ve said a word. You’ve worked hard for the salary, the position and, if you’re lucky, the rotation. But at 2am in your bunk, the questions sound different:

  • “What do I actually want my yacht savings to do for me?”
  • “Which of these career or business ideas could actually suit me?”
  • “Where would my experience be valuable outside yachting?”
  • “What do I need to sort out now if I want to move home in a few years?”
  • “Am I actually building towards something or just doing another season?”

For most women here the problem isn’t money or options. It’s that the pieces haven’t been put together yet. Nobody teaches you this at 23 when the first paycheck lands, so you say “one more season” and hope the answers turn up. Don’t use one more season to delay your transition. Use it to fund and prepare for it, over 12 weeks, with the experts in the room.

Megan Sargeant, Founder of The Crossing Method

Meet Megan

I built the programme I wish existed when I was progressing in yachting

I didn’t build The Crossing Method because I hated yachting. I loved what the industry gave me. But I also knew it wasn’t going to be my whole life.

I dockwalked into my first job with no experience, progressed quickly and spent 12 years running the interiors and leading teams on some of the world’s most prestigious private and charter yachts. I used what I earned: I bought my first property at 26 and again at 32, turned charter tips into my wedding, an exit fund and an investment portfolio. I’ve left the industry twice, once to build a business in Cape Town, and now for good, currently mid-MBA and building this. I made plenty of mistakes along the way.

Yachting gave me money, skills, experience and relationships. The Crossing Method exists so other women can use what yachting has given them to deliberately build their next chapter: the finance and investing guidelines, the tax understanding, the career and business options beyond yachting, and the identity work, all in one place, before you need it. Planning ahead makes your next moves exciting instead of daunting.

Megan Sargeant, Founder

You’ve become incredibly good at your job. But your job isn’t all you’re good at.

The question isn’t only “what jobs can an ex-Chief Stew do?” It’s what you have actually built, where that experience is valuable outside yachting, and what else you’re good at that a yacht role has never asked for. Interests, abilities and ambitions that have sat quietly in the background for years usually have somewhere to go.

From there we look at which career or business paths could genuinely support the life you want, rather than the ones that simply sound sensible.

The Programme

Twelve weeks. Step-by-step progress and actual momentum with clarity supported by incredible women in the room.

Once a week, for 12 weeks, there will be 90-minute live sessions. This is one journey, not a bundle of unrelated masterclasses. You finish with an action plan already in motion, not a folder of ideas.

  1. →

First, we work out what you actually want.

  2. →

Then, we explore where your experience could take you.

  3. →

Then, we get the practical pieces working around that direction: career, business, money, tax, CV, LinkedIn, AI and your professional positioning.

  4. →

Finally, we turn it into a plan you can actually start while you’re still yachting.

THINK ABOUT IT LIKE THIS…

If you were trying to build this level of support on your own, you would probably need to find, book and pay several different professionals separately.

  • A career or business coach to help you work out what comes next
  • A South African or relevant tax specialist for your jurisdiction
  • A finance or investing expert to look at what your savings could actually do
  • A LinkedIn and personal brand specialist
  • A recruiter or CV specialist who understands yachting
  • Someone to show you how to use AI tools properly in a shore-based context

Then you would still be the one connecting all that advice to your own transition.

The difference with The Crossing Method

Or you can have them in one room, working around the same question: what are you building after yachting?

This is not simply access to six experts. It is a structured 12-week journey that connects life goals, career and business possibilities, your transferable experience, tax, money and investing, professional positioning, CV and LinkedIn, network, AI and an actionable plan. The individual pieces work together around your transition rather than existing as disconnected consultations.

Bought separately, this level of professional support could easily run into thousands.

The investment in The Crossing Method is designed to be a fraction of one month’s salary for experienced yacht crew, and far less than assembling this level of support independently.

The goal isn’t to help you leave yachting faster. It’s to help you use the position you’re in now, your income, experience, network and time, to prepare properly for whenever you do.

The value is not only avoiding expensive mistakes. It is using a period of strong yacht income, valuable experience and relative freedom intentionally, rather than allowing another few years to pass without building towards what comes next.

FAQ

All your questions answered.

Do I need to be leaving yachting soon?+

No. The best time to build what comes next is while yachting is still working for you. Some of the cohort are six months from leaving; some are three or four years away and want this season to count for something.

I'm still onboard / on rotation. Can I actually do this?+

Yes. There is one live 90-minute session each week, and every session is recorded. Replays are there if you're underway, on watch or mid-turnaround. The work between sessions is built to fit around boat life.

What if I don't know exactly what I want to do next?+

That's completely fine. You might have no idea, or you might have ten tabs open and three different careers you're considering. The first part of The Crossing helps you work out what you actually want your life to look like, then explore the paths that could support it. Both women belong here.

How much time does it take?+

One 90-minute live session a week, plus an hour or two of applied work between calls. Twelve weeks, deliberately paced for women still working at sea.

What happens after the 12 weeks?+

The programme ends. The crossing continues. Every graduate joins The Crossing Alumni, the community that carries on after.

How much does it cost?+
